Recommit to Your New Year’s Goals

This may be a horrible thing to mention for those of you still battling winter super storms, but in all reality, spring is truly just around the corner! There are all kinds of signs regrowth here in California, and I for one am happy to see them. It also reminds me that spring is the perfect time for renewal.

Did you make any specific goals at the beginning of this year? If you have, March is the month to see where you are in terms of progress. The first quarter of the year is nearly over, and if you’re as goal-oriented as I am, you want to see a tangible ROI on the projects you’ve invested a lot of time, possibly money, definitely sweat, hard work, and a few tears.

Here are five tips to help you put a fresh perspective on your goals:

  1. Pull out your old list of goals or resolutions from way back in 2018. Take your time with each item, and determine how much it still matters to you.
  2. Be sure to make a note of what you have accomplished. This one is important for overachievers like me, so I’ll take the time to repeat it: Be sure to make note of what you have accomplished. Have you met your goal 100%? If so, awesome! Go on and treat yourself to something, even if only a bit of praise. If you still have a way to go, make a note to remind yourself of the progress you’ve made so far.
  3. REWRITE YOUR LIST OF GOALS. This gives you a chance to reassess the moments where you may have been a bit too ambitious or had a self-limiting attitude that held you back more than you realized.
  4. Just because it’s not a new year on the calendar, it doesn’t mean that you can’t start fresh. Maybe something has happened in your life that made you rethink everything. honestly, this is the best time to make modifications in your goals – even if the major goal becomes simply making it, one day at a time. That’s already a lofty goal for most of us, by the way.
  5. Be kind to yourself. While it’s all well and good to be goal-oriented, it’s even better to be forgiving. Sometimes specific goals won’t be achieved. It’s an inevitable fact of life, and it’s important to remember that you’re constantly accomplishing things that you never even considered putting on your list. Seriously, you’re slaying on the daily, so be proud of your grind. If things aren’t quite working out, don’t give up on those goals, though. Search for modified versions of your goal, and pursue that route. Whatever you do, don’t give up from one moment to the next, unless you’ve truly left that goal behind you.

As for me, I’ve got a long and lofty list of goals, but I’m tearing them into somewhat manageable chunks. I have a lot of writing to do, so I’ll leave you to your own elephant!

Sending Love and Light to all of you.
